ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Kate’s work comes out of personal experiences as well as social influences. It is inspired from interacting with personal friends, family and social groups. Some of the work comes directly out of her observations of the social interaction between other people.

Kate Jackson was born in Los Angeles, CA. on July 11, 1982. Kate is a self-taught artist. When she was 15, she began assembling collages from images and photo’s she found around the house. She then began painting on wood panels and then onto canvas. Recently, she has been drawing on enlarged family photos.

Kate’s medium is primarily mixed, using acrylic, oil, watercolor pencils and ink.

Found objects and images find their way into her work. Her life experiences play a dominant role in every work of art she creates. When she begins to paint or draw, the images evolve from these experiences. Her use of color plays an important role in her art, by which she highlights selected images surrounding them with solid color in order to emphasize importance.

When she paints, she is in a meditative state of mind and picks up on everything that she has ever experienced in life and with that, there are in fact parts of her in every painting.

Kate has had one art lesson where she quickly captured the essence of the nude model in a kind of cartoon quality. She studied other artists and appreciates their work, and has developed a style that is hers alone. Kate’s work has an emotional impact that engages the viewer in that emotion.
